JAPAN, HOUJICHA - GREEN TEA

JAPAN, HOUJICHA - GREEN TEA
Organically grown and processed, this houjicha is harvested in the autumn months and sourced from Kyoto and Kagoshima. It is a roasted Japanese green tea, made primarily from bancha - the coarser leaves and stems from later harvests. After hand-picking, the leaves are gently roasted over charcoal, producing a warm, toasty aroma and flavour distinctly different from Japanese steamed teas, like sencha.
Because it is made from later-harvest leaves and stems, and roasted at low heat, houjicha has naturally low caffeine, making it a mellow, relaxing tea. The roasted leaves offer a smooth body and gentle depth, a quiet counterpart to more vibrant steamed greens.
Available in 50 gram canisters.
For best results, brew at 85 degrees for 2 minutes and 30 seconds. Use 1.9 grams for 100ml of water. Infuse twice.
